I obsessively explore in-betweens. I started with visually documenting the pockets of natural ecosystems surviving within my expanding urban environment. Observing and recording those visual moments lead me to question what other in-betweens construct our space and time.
I collect remnants and paper from daily routines like tea bags, patterns, maps, ledgers, sketches, old art, and receipts to create my sculpture. The forms are crafted to resemble those in-between spaces between the trees as a tangible moment which captures the lighting within a forest. Individually they stand for one of those observed moments but combined, they form a visual reminder of the tree’s shape.
